Princess Philomena | Philodendron White Princess
Meet Princess Philomena, the White Princess.
Some princesses spend their lives preparing to inherit a throne. Others dream of marrying a handsome prince and living happily ever after.
Philomena would rather everyone stop discussing her future long enough for her to decide what she’d actually like to do with it.
The only daughter of the extravagantly fabulous Queen Cordyline, Philomena has grown up surrounded by luxury, lavish celebrations, and an alarming number of people willing to agree with absolutely anything her mother says.
Fortunately, the princess inherited her mother’s beauty without inheriting quite so much of her enthusiasm for being the center of attention.
With glossy emerald leaves adorned in unpredictable splashes of ivory and white, Philomena possesses a quiet sort of elegance. No two leaves are quite alike, and she considers this a perfectly reasonable argument against the expectation that every princess should behave exactly as the last one did.
She is intelligent, independent, and generally quite well-mannered.
Generally.
Her mother has always encouraged her to pursue her heart’s desires, provided those desires involve beautiful things, interesting company, and preferably a little excitement.
Recently, however, Queen Cordyline has become unusually enthusiastic about one particular young gentleman.
Lucien.
The reserved, darkly handsome son of Queen Regina.
Yes. That Queen Regina.
The very same monarch who once threatened to have Cordyline beheaded over an unfortunate disagreement at a royal banquet.
Philomena initially assumed her mother’s sudden interest in Lucien was a sign that diplomatic relations between the two households were finally improving.
Then she overheard Cordyline laughing so hard over the prospect of Regina acquiring her as a mother-in-law that she nearly spilled an entire glass of champagne.
The princess has since become considerably more suspicious of her mother’s matchmaking efforts.
Not that Lucien is entirely without appeal.
He is thoughtful, mysterious, and refreshingly uninterested in discussing royal appearances. He also possesses the remarkable ability to remain perfectly composed while his mother issues increasingly dramatic proclamations.
Philomena finds this rather impressive.
Of course, she has absolutely no intention of pursuing a gentleman simply because doing so would irritate Queen Regina.
That would be terribly immature.
She would, however, be willing to get to know him.
Purely out of curiosity.
As a houseguest, Philomena is far less demanding than her royal upbringing might suggest. She appreciates bright, indirect light, a comfortable amount of humidity, and enough independence to let her soil dry slightly between waterings. Given something to climb, she will happily reach new heights, displaying increasingly beautiful foliage along the way.
Her perfect match? Someone who appreciates individuality, respects her independence, and understands that a princess is perfectly capable of making her own decisions.
Preferably someone whose mother doesn’t threaten executions at dinner parties.
Although, admittedly, that does make things more interesting.
