Aquarium Considerations
Turquoise Discus require warm, exceptionally clean water and a stable aquarium environment. Consistent temperatures, efficient biological filtration, and regular water changes are essential for maintaining their health and vibrant coloration.
As naturally social fish, discus are generally best maintained in groups of five or more in adequately sized aquariums. They establish a social hierarchy, and larger groups can help distribute attention from dominant individuals.
Provide generous swimming space along with sheltered areas created by driftwood, smooth decorations, and plants suited to warmer water. Avoid sharp ornaments and aggressive or fast-moving tankmates that may cause unnecessary stress.
Sudden changes in temperature, pH, or water quality can be particularly harmful. Careful acclimation, regular water testing, and quarantining new arrivals are strongly recommended.
Feeding
A varied, nutritious diet supports healthy growth, strong coloration, and overall well-being. Offer high-quality discus-specific pellets or granules alongside suitable frozen foods such as brine shrimp and mysis shrimp.
Feed manageable portions and promptly remove uneaten food to preserve water quality.
