Meet Neil. The First Diamond. The original headliner. The man, the myth, the houseplant who has never once questioned whether the world revolves around him.

Some people spend their lives chasing fame. Neil simply arrived, caught the light at the right angle, and assumed the applause was for him.

With his striking silver-white foliage, dramatic green markings, and effortlessly polished appearance, Neil has all the makings of a legend. He doesn’t demand attention. He just happens to receive it everywhere he goes.

He’s charming, confident, and remarkably humble for someone who refers to his younger years as the early recordings.

His younger brother, Nick, has spent years attempting to establish an identity entirely separate from Neil’s considerable shadow. Neil, of course, is tremendously supportive.

He’s even offered to let Nick open for him.

Neil insists there’s no rivalry between them. Nick has declined to comment.

Despite his celebrity status, Neil is surprisingly easygoing. He doesn’t require constant attention, tolerates the occasional missed watering, and adapts beautifully to life away from the spotlight. Although he does prefer a good dressing room with flattering indirect lighting.

His perfect match?

Someone who appreciates a classic, enjoys a little old-school glamour, and understands that true star power never goes out of style.

Plant Care

• Botanical Name: Aglaonema ‘First Diamond’
• Common Name: Chinese Evergreen
• Light: Medium to bright, indirect sunlight. Tolerates lower light, although brighter indirect light helps maintain his striking variegation. Avoid harsh direct sun.
• Water: Allow the top 1–2 inches of soil to dry before watering. Neil appreciates consistency but isn’t interested in having wet feet.
• Humidity: Average household humidity is generally suitable, although moderate humidity is appreciated.
• Temperature: Prefers 65–85°F. Protect from cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.
• Soil: Well-draining indoor potting mix.
• Pet Safety: Toxic to cats and dogs if chewed or ingested. Keep away from curious pets and children.

A Little Star Treatment: Neil’s pale, variegated leaves contain less chlorophyll than darker green varieties. Give him plenty of gentle, indirect light to help maintain his signature appearance. After all, a star needs proper lighting.
