Antique Tianjin Cabinet

Built in Tianjin in 1902, this tall Chinese storage cabinet has the quiet presence of a piece that has already lived an entire life before arriving here.

Traditionally, cabinets of this form were used in pairs and placed symmetrically within a room. This example retains that sense of balance and restraint, with dark catalpa wood, warm brass hardware, and a tall architectural silhouette that feels equally at home in a library, dining room, entry hall, or private sitting room.

Inside, the larger cabinet contains two shelves, including one removable and adjustable shelf, offering practical storage while preserving the exterior’s disciplined simplicity.

Restoration has been kept minimal. Age-related lines, surface texture, and small imperfections remain visible, giving the piece the character expected of furniture more than a century old.

A matching companion cabinet is also available, allowing the pair to be reunited if desired.
