Woven in Kashmir, this three-yard Kani shawl pairs a warm taupe ground with intricate ivory and charcoal floral motifs. The palette is restrained, the pattern is dense and beautifully controlled, and the finished piece has the kind of presence that feels ceremonial without becoming theatrical.

Pashmina is an exceptionally fine form of cashmere traditionally made from the soft undercoat of high-altitude Himalayan goats. The fibers are prized for their warmth, lightness, and extraordinary softness. In Kashmir, generations of textile artisans have transformed pashmina into shawls that are valued as much for their craftsmanship as for the fiber itself.

This piece is woven in the Kani tradition, a painstaking technique in which the pattern is built into the textile during weaving rather than simply added afterward. The result is a richly detailed surface with the character of a textile made slowly and deliberately.

Despite its generous three-yard length, pure pashmina remains remarkably light. Draped over the shoulders, wrapped around the body, or worn as a formal layer, it has enough scale to make an entrance without overwhelming the wearer.

Chosen for Home of Ilex because it feels less like an accessory and more like part of a private wardrobe collected over time.
