The Wenge Humidor | African Hardwood & Spanish Cedar

FOR THE GENTLEMAN WHO APPRECIATES THE FINER RITUALS IN LIFE.

From the forests of Central Africa comes wenge, an extraordinary hardwood prized for its remarkable density, deep chocolate-brown coloring, and nearly black grain. Native to the Congo Basin, this striking timber is notoriously demanding to work with, making it a material that rewards patience, precision, and skilled craftsmanship.

Expertly handcrafted, this distinguished humidor pairs the dramatic darkness of African wenge with the warm, aromatic character of Spanish cedar. Two exceptional hardwoods from different continents come together in a piece that is as handsome as it is purposeful.

Behind its brass-hinged lid lies a carefully arranged interior designed to accommodate up to 80 Churchill-sized cigars. A removable tray, two humidifiers, and a digital hygrometer provide the essentials for preserving a treasured collection, while the Spanish cedar lining offers the traditional environment favored by cigar connoisseurs.

For those who believe the finest possessions should carry a personal signature, an optional engraved brass plate offers space for a name, initials, or meaningful inscription. Left unadorned, the humidor is equally distinguished, allowing the natural character of the wenge to speak for itself.

A handsome addition to a private study, a thoughtful gift for the devoted aficionado, and a fitting home for a collection assembled with care.

About Spanish cedar: it's also called cigar box cedar (Cedrela odorata). It grows in Central and South America. It isn't a true cedar. It's in the mahogany family. The color runs pale pink to reddish brown, with a straight, even grain. It's light, with a specific gravity of 0.32 to 0.43. It has a sweet smell that keeps moths and bugs away, and it resists rot and decay. It handles moisture well, which is why it's the standard wood for lining humidors.

About Wenge: it comes from central and western Africa, mostly the Congo basin (Millettia laurentii). It's dark brown, almost black, with thin pale yellow-brown streaks. It's one of the heaviest, hardest woods around, with a specific gravity of 0.85 to 0.97. It holds up to wear, moisture and bugs. It's hard to work and hard to get, so it costs more.
