Joanna | Orchid 'Light Pink Phalaenopsis'
Meet Joanna, the Light Pink Phalaenopsis Orchid.
Joanna has never needed to be loud to be noticed. With graceful stems, soft pink blooms, and an air of effortless elegance, she prefers to make her entrance quietly and let everyone else come to her.
She appreciates consistency more than attention. Give her bright, indirect light, comfortable warmth, and a drink only when she actually needs one. Joanna does not respond well to hovering. Too much water, too much sun, or too much fussing will earn you far less gratitude than simply giving her a comfortable place and letting her settle in.
Her flowers can last for weeks, but eventually even Joanna needs a rest. When the blooms fade, do not assume the performance is over. With patience and proper care, a Phalaenopsis orchid can bloom again, often returning with another elegant display after a period of quiet growth.
She may look delicate, but she is far more resilient than she appears. Joanna simply knows that thriving and rushing are two very different things.
“You don’t have to fuss over me. Just get the atmosphere right.”
Botanical Name: Phalaenopsis amabilis
Common Name: Moth Orchid / Phalaenopsis Orchid
Plant Type: Tropical flowering evergreen orchid
Placement: Indoor
Color: Light pink flowers with green foliage
Care Level: 5/10. Straightforward once you understand what she likes, but she is particular about watering.
• Light: Give Joanna bright, indirect light. Gentle morning light can be beneficial, but strong direct afternoon sun may scorch her leaves.
• Water: Water when the potting medium is approaching dry rather than following a strict schedule. Allow excess water to drain completely. Never leave the roots sitting in standing water.
• Roots: Healthy Phalaenopsis roots need airflow. Orchid bark or another airy orchid-growing medium is preferable to dense conventional potting soil.
• Humidity: Average household humidity is usually adequate, although Joanna appreciates moderate humidity and good air circulation.
• Temperature: Normal indoor temperatures are generally comfortable. Keep her away from cold drafts, heating vents, and abrupt temperature changes.
• Feeding: Feed lightly with an orchid-appropriate fertilizer during active growth, following the product instructions rather than overfeeding.
• After Blooming: Flowers naturally fade with time. Continue caring for the plant after flowering. Healthy Phalaenopsis orchids can rebloom with patience and appropriate conditions.
• Maintenance: Remove spent blooms as needed. Avoid allowing water to remain trapped in the crown where the leaves meet.
• Pets: Phalaenopsis orchids are generally considered non-toxic to cats and dogs.

Plant Disclosure
You will receive a live Light Pink Phalaenopsis Orchid in the size and potting option selected. Each Joanna grows a little differently, so height, leaf shape, stem count, flower count, bud development, and exact shade of pink naturally vary. Listing photos show representative plants. A decorative planter is included only when specified in the selected option.
Because orchids are living plants, flowers may be at different stages of development when your plant arrives. Individual blooms may fade during or shortly after shipping, and the number of open flowers and unopened buds will naturally vary. Minor cosmetic blemishes, small leaf marks, or temporary shipping stress may also occur.
Unpack promptly. Place Joanna in bright, indirect light and inspect the growing medium before watering. Allow excess water to drain completely and avoid leaving standing water around the roots or in the crown of the plant.
If Joanna arrives with significant damage or a condition concern, contact hello@ilexatelier.com within 24 hours of delivery. Include your order number and clear photos of the entire plant, affected areas, shipping box, and shipping label. Keep the plant and packaging while we review your concern.
